The Winooski City Council has passed a resolution asking Vermont’s congressional delegation to request a change in the Vermont Air National Guard’s F-35 mission. The council expressed concerns over the noise and potential health risks posed to residents living in the flight path of the jets, an issue that has been raised since their arrival in 2019. The resolution mirrors a similar one recently discussed by the Burlington City Council, though Burlington voted to extend the Air Guard’s lease at Burlington Airport. The ongoing noise mitigation program involving the military and airport has seen little progress over the years.
