SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. —
On Tuesday, a small group of people gathered at Vermont Sen. Patrick Leahy’s office to make a last minute push to stop the F-35 planes from coming to the Burlington International Airport in South Burlington.
“I grew up here so I don’t know anything different,” said Kara Paige, a South Burlington resident.
Paige along with a handful of other residents in South Burlington believe the planes will be too noisy and will cause their property value to decline.
They are also frustrated with their senators who they believe are not listening to their concerns.
“I think the wrong people are listening, people like you are listening but I think the people that need to listen are the ones that aren’t willing to listen,” said Carmine Sargent, Paige’s mother.
The F-35 planes are slated to arrive as early as next week and will be used by the Vermont Air National Guard.
